- While the show scheduled for this date was cancelled, the band performed the show's closing number/sequence for the press. "A concert scheduled for Thursday was cancelled earlier in the week; the official word for the cancellation was that drummer Peter Criss needed an extra day to heal a cut hand. Observers speculate the concert was canceled because only 8,000 tickets had been sold for the two shows in the 10,000 capacity arena. Center officials said Wednesday there were approximately 1,000 tickets left for Friday" (Lakeland Ledger, 6/15/79).
- A recording from the "Dynasty" tour rehearsals is often attributed to this date, but was more likely made during earlier rehearsals for the tour due to the nature of Paul's raps; They're obviously not being directed any "audience."
- It's rather ominous, considering what would later occur, to hear Paul telling Peter to pick up the beat and hear him obviously having issues.
- Production costs for the tour were a staggering $2.2 million in a music industry that was suffering a major touring and sales slump.
- Staging, lighting, sound, rigging, and transport were handled by Philadelpia bases McManus Enterprises.

Of Interest:

- Gene Simmons appeared on Orlando's BJ-105FM lunch-time radio from June 14, 1979, amusingly using the "Jumpin' Gene Simmons" moniker. Gene attempts to get people who call in to talk, discusses the cancellation of that day's show (which would have been the first night of the "Dynasty/Return of KISS" tour), and more...

Tiananmen Square protests in 1989

Twenty-five years ago, thousands of students gathered in Beijing's Tiananmen Square for weeks, demanding democratic reforms of the Communist country.
The daily student protests eventually culminated with a deadly crackdown on June 3-4, 1989, as soldiers, tanks and armored personnel carriers attacked, killing hundreds of civilians.

It does not get too much better than this. This is probably from the master tape. It looks like it is only one reel from the show, but at this quality, I'll take what I can get. Not only is the performance good, and highly charged, but this line recording (which was probably once property of MPL) is so clear. It's a revelation to hear Jimmy's wah-wah garnishing of The Long and Winding Road. To hear all the natural noise from amps, the real crunch of his Marshalls. Unbelievable! Call Me Back Again is simply stunning as Paul is literally singing directly into your speakers. Why don't more official recordings come out like this? None of the magic of this evening is suppressed by compression, overproduction or overdubs. And....it is far superior to Wings Over America. -BootlegZone
